No regrets for Nas

4 months ago 17th Jul 13:15

Nas says he removed the title of his controversial new album because it was getting "the wrong attention".

The rapper's ninth album was due to be named 'N****r' but was eventually released untitled following an outcry.

Yet despite the controversy, Nas insists he doesn't care about the critics.

He said: "It started to get the wrong attention, like from radio hosts who don't know what the f**k is going on. I'm not talking to them. I'm talking to the hip-hop family. They know what it's called. It's the 'N****r Album'.

"Throughout the distractions, I would just remember the reason why I'm doing this album. I'm a black man. Let me say what's on my mind."

The 'I Can' hitmaker also claims he had no idea how people would react to the title, but says he didn't intend to be disrespectful.

He told America's Rolling Stone magazine: "I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if there would be rallies in front of the record company. I was like, 'Man, I'm on my own mission.' It's about me and how I feel about 'n****r'. Period.
