New Moon

New Moon

New Moon is on course to smash U.S. box office records when it hits cinemas later this month (Nov09) - 700 screenings have already sold out.

Demand for the vampire and werewolf franchise is so great that movie executives at Summit Entertainment are re-releasing Twilight in 2,000 theatres on 19 November (09) - the eve of the debut of The Twilight Saga: New Moon - and some of these screenings have already sold out in advance.

Two weeks before the sequel hits cinemas, New Moon currently leads all movie ticket sales at MovieTickets.com, accounting for 51 per cent of all sales.

New Moon is the second of Stephenie Meyer's popular novels to be adapted for the big screen after the success of Twilight last year.

The movie sees Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart return to their roles as lovers Edward Cullen and Bella Swan.

After Bella recovers from the vampire attack that almost claimed her life, she looks to celebrate her birthday with Edward and his family.

However, a minor accident during the festivities results in Bella's blood being shed, a sight that proves too intense for the Cullens, who decide to leave the town of Forks, Washington for Bella and Edward's sake.

Initially heartbroken, Bella finds a form of comfort in reckless living, as well as an even-closer friendship with Jacob Black.

The third movie Eclipse is due for release next summer.
