Nicolas Cage Collects Award

Nicolas Cage has received a special recognition award for his charitable work for the United Nations (U.N).
 
  The actor, who is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador on Drugs and Crime, was presented with the U.N. Correspondents Association's Global Citizen of the Year award at a special dinner to recognize those who are involved with humanitarian causes.
 
  At the presentation, Cage insisted he is glad to use his fame to "to shine a spotlight on the need for global justice."
 
  The Con Air star recently visited a Kenyan prison to speak with Somali pirates awaiting trial, in a bid to boost awareness of the piracy problem in the Indian Ocean.
 
  The Oscar winning actor follows in the footsteps of Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, George Clooney and Angelina Jolie who are also celebrity U.N. Goodwill Ambassadors.
