George Bowers has died, aged 68.
The revered film editor worked with director Penny Marshall on four films including A League of Their Own and The Preacher's Wife.
He was a great guy, he will be sorely missed. I could not have gotten through the films without him
He spent four decades behind the scenes in Hollywood and also directed a young Johnny Depp in 1985's Private Resort.
He died on 18 August of complications related to heart surgery at a Los Angeles hospital.
His daughter announced the sad news on Thursday.
Paying tribute to her friend, Marshall tells The Hollywood Reporter, "He was a great Guy, he will be sorely missed. I could not have gotten through the films without him".
His film credits also include True Believer, Sleeping With The Enemy, The Good Son and Money Train.
His final movie was 2008's Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins.
