Pete Doherty's missing gig

1 month ago 16th Jul 13:15

Pete Doherty has denied he failed to show up to a concert, claiming he was never booked.

The Babyshambles frontman has come under fire for failing to perform at Newcastle's Cluny on Monday (14.07.08).

Tickets had been sold for the show, with the venue's spokesperson saying they had been contacted by the rocker's booking agent about the possibility of the gig, which had then been officially booked.

However, Pete has hit back, telling music website NME.com: "This was a hoax. I was in Newcastle for a funeral but was never booked to play the Cluny.

"I don't quite know how you can book a show without informing the artist concerned. Apologies to any fans that turned up to this but I never know anything about it. I did, however, play in the Johnny's Bar in Newcastle for the Teenage Cancer Trust."

Pete has also confirmed his debut solo album will be released later this year.

The 'Down in Albion' singer says he will honour his current scheduled solo concerts and those with his band, but will not schedule any more until the record is complete.
