"I love the Transformers movies and Transformers was one of my favourite shows from when I was a kid. I think it's going to be an awesome movie. Unfortunately, I'm not in it."

Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg are returning as director and executive producer respectively.

To ensure the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike did not delay the film, Bay wrote a 60-page 'template' for it himself.

He said: "The strike was a drag. But I like to write myself. So I wrote 60 pages."
