Runaways Star Was Broke Before Film Role

Landing the role of drummer Sandy West in The Runaways biopic could not have come at a better time for actress Stella Maeve - she was broke.

The 28 year old reveals she was one of 500 hopefuls who auditioned for the role opposite Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart - and she was calledback four times before she landed the part.

She says, "My dad was a drummer and taught me when I was 12... Sandy and I have a lot of similarities".

And she really needed the job because she was struggling financially - she literally took a leap of faith out of a plane and learned she had landed the part minutes later.

She explains, "I had $100 in my pocket... took my friend's car, drove up to Sacramento (California), jumped out of a plane... and found out thatI booked a job".
