Russell Brand's movie axe

5 months ago 03rd Jun 13:30

Russell Brand has shelved plans for a movie based on his autobiography.

The 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' star was due to start work on the big screen adaptation of 'My Booky Wook' because he doesn't want Americans finding out about his past drug addiction.

He told MTV: "I'm not going to make the Booky Wook into a film anymore because then people in America will learn what my past is like. Of course people that can be bothered to read will know that I have a chequered past.

"Fingers crossed, we give them a book I've written already, I don't have to do no more homework!"

Russell - who was reportedly planning to play himself in the movie - also revealed he has landed a part in 'Get Him to the Greek'.

He joked: "I'm playing the part of Nathanial, a highwayman from medieval France. No, I'll be playing myself. A version of myself. I think I might have a hat on. I don't know, I don't wear a hat.

"I'm a rock star as usual. I'm going to play rock stars for the first 10 years of my career, and then I'm going to move on, and I'm only going to play mailmen for the next 10 years. It's going to be fun."
