Ryan Gosling is moving from the big screen to the music studio - the actor is set to release his first album.
The Notebook star and his Dead Man's Bones bandmate Zach Shields have signed with indie label Anti Records to release a self-titled debut disc in October (09).
And the actor credits contributions from from the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir, a Los Angeles-based children's chorus, with inspiring him to steer clear of pop music during the two-year recording process.
Gosling tells music website Pitchfork.com, "You know when you're a kid and you get crayons and papers and just draw whatever you want and it's just a bunch of messy lines, but to you it makes sense, and then they put it on the fridge.
"We wanted to get back to that place before we were trying to make the fridge. We wanted to work with people who hadn't been affected in that way yet."
The actor shot to fame with his performance in the romantic movie The Notebook, alongside Rachel McAdams.
In 2006 he was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his role in Half Nelson. He is currently filming Blue Valentine.
