The man accused of harassing American Idol host Ryan Seacrest has been sentenced to two years in prison.

Chidi Uzomah Jr., a special forces reserve for the U.S. Army, was charged with a felony count of stalking and two misdemeanour counts of violating a court order in November (09) after he pulled out a knife and threatened staff at Seacrest's Los Angeles office.

The incident was a violation of a restraining order issued in a previous case, in which Uzomah admitted attacking one of Seacrest's bodyguards.

Uzomah, 25, pleaded not guilty to the charges at a hearing in Los Angeles on 3 November (09); he was arraigned again in March (10), and pleadedno contest to felony stalking after the case was moved to a different court.

Seacrest was awarded a civil restraining order.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge dismissed two other misdemeanour counts in exchange the plea.

Uzomah was handed the maximum sentence for the remaining charge on Monday (14Jun10).

He will serve the term at a California state prison.
