Salma Hayek brings Wicked to the small screen

Actress Salma Hayek is set to bring the hit musical Wicked to the small screen.

The massively popular Wizard Of Oz spin off, based on the 1995 book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West written by Gregory Maguire, is in production all over the world, making millions of dollars.

Hayek hopes to replicate the success in a new mini-series for the small screen.

The Band of Brothers writer Erik Jendresen has been hired to pen the script, while Hayek and her production partner, Jose Tamez, will act as executive producers.

According to Variety the TV show will be closely based on Maguire's as opposed to the musical.
