Actress Sandra Bullock is glad motherhood landed in her lap - because shecan't imagine life without her five-year-old stepdaughter Sunny.
The Miss Congeniality star admits she had never planned to be a mum because she always felt she was "too selfish" to have kids, but she's smitten with husband Jesse James' daughter from his marriage to Janine Lindemulder.
The star tells America's Parade magazine, "The universe put this (little girl) in our lap. I seemed to have stepped in right when I needed to bethere. I now know that anything sweet, really sweet, that I have was nothing that I planned.
I approach things differently now that I'm married
"If you don't have kids and animals, you don't truly know what real life is about". She admits she never planned to get married either, but that's another decision she's glad she made - four years after she exchanged vows with James. Bullock explains,
"I was good at bolting before. I didn't want to do the work... Now I work at what I love. If I didn't love him (James), I wouldn't be putting in the effort.
"I approach things differently now that I'm married. I would never do anything that would harm his heart".
