Star: 'Gay Marriage Is An Inevitability'

Sex & The City creator Darren Star, has said that it is only a matter of time before the law in California's new same-sex marriage ban is overturned again.

Gay marriages were legalised in California in May, but the legislation was overturned last week when voters chose yes on Proposition 8, which ended almost six months of gay wedding ceremonies across the state.

And Star admits he was surprised by the opposition to same-sex nuptials - but he doesn't expect the new ruling to last long.

Speaking to website TheDailyBeast.com, he says, "There is no question in my mind that gay marriage is an inevitability. Californians like to think of themselves as socially progressive and were surprised and angry to wake up to find bigotry introduced into their constitution.

"Exit polls show gay marriage has overwhelming support among younger voters, so obviously this is just a matter of time."
