Alien Star Sigourney Weaver Uses Role To Stop Bullying

17-12-2004 00:00

WEAVER UNLEASHES RIPLEY AT DAUGHTER'S SCHOOL

Eccentric actor SIGOURNEY WEAVER reprised her ALIEN role as tough warrior ELLEN RIPLEY to force her husband to take their daughter out of a violent school.

The actress insists she dislikes confrontation, but was so determined to protect her daughter CHARLOTTE from bullies, she used her movie character's rage to frighten her director husband JIM SIMPSON into finding a new school for their child.

She explains, "I don't play that many people who feel rage. But when someone hurts your kid, your reaction is instinctive.

"We were having a meeting at our daughter's school. Someone was being mean and dismissive and bullying my child.

"My husband saw Ripley coming out, and he tried to keep me from over-reacting. Eventually my rage won.

And I had my revenge. My daughter is now at a wonderful school."

WEAVER BEGS SCOTT TO WRITE ALIEN SEQUEL

SIGOURNEY WEAVER is desperate to reprise her signature role as tough warrior ELLEN RIPLEY and is disappointed director RIDLEY SCOTT has failed to write a fourth sequel in the ALIEN series.

The actress is desperate to subvert movie stereotypes by playing a middle-aged action heroine in the sci-fi sequel, but she refuses to pen the script herself.

She says, "I did have a couple of talks with RIDLEY SCOTT about going back to the original planet. I can certainly see a woman in her 50s kicking ass in space.

"But I'm not so motivated that I'm going to sit around and write the plot myself. I'm proud of the ones I made. They seem to be holding up well, and people love them."
