Pegg Preparing for Fatherhood

British funnyman Simon Pegg is eager to get stuck into his next role - asa doting dad.

The Shaun of the Dead actor's wife Maureen McCann, who he married in 2005, is due to give birth later this month (Jul09).

Pegg, who is already godfather to Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's daughter Apple, can barely contain his excitement - and has high hopes for his baby's future.

It struck me that, technically, he or she could eventually become President of the United States. The potential is there!

He says, "It's the most important thing to me. I'm very excited. I wantto be a really good dad, a good influence and a good role model - someone my child can turn to, whatever the hell that means... It's all to do with your attitude and making sure they stay grounded, but making sure theyaren't deprived of anything.

"If you've got the money to give them things, and it's a positive thing, then you should do it - education, whatever they need".

And Pegg is delighted his offspring will be born in Los Angeles, as it will entitle the baby to dual citizenship.

He adds, "It struck me that, technically, he or she could eventually become President of the United States. The potential is there!"
