British funnyman Simon Pegg is a new dad.

The Star Trek actor's wife, Maureen McCann, gave birth to a baby girl at the weekend.

It's the first child for the couple, who wed four years ago this month (Jul05).

He added, It struck me that, technically, he or she could eventually become President of the United States

Pegg, who is godfather to pals Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's daughter Apple, recently confessed he couldn't wait to be a dad "It's the most important thing to me. I'm very excited".

He admitted he was delighted his kid will be born in Los Angeles, as itwill entitle the baby to dual citizenship.

He added, "It struck me that, technically, he or she could eventually become President of the United States. The potential is there!"
