Stephen Norrington has confirmed plans for a 'Blade' spin-off.

Actor Stephen Dorff recently spoke out about the project, saying he was set reprise his role as vampire Deacon Frost in three new movies and his director has now confirmed it will definitely happen.

Crediting the actor for the idea, the film maker added: "It has evolved into a very interesting story. The linkage to 'Blade' is still big in the equation."

Speaking about the proposal earlier this week, the 'Public Enemies' actor said: "It will be a prequel to the 'Blade' movies, Deacon's story. It's a new trilogy the director has created. It will cool. We hope to shoot the first film next year. Frost is a character I have never been able to shake."

The original Marvel movie, which was released in 1998, starred Wesley Snipes as the half-vampire hero.

He will not return for the spin-off.
