Computer pioneer Steve Jobs was branded "suspect" and "deceptive" in secret Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) files.

Jobs will twist the truth and distort reality in order to achieve his goals

The late Apple boss was in the running for a position at the White House in Washington, D.C. in 1991 and underwent a thorough vetting by the U.S. internal intelligence agency.

A dossier compiled by agents has now been published on the FBI's website, and the papers reveal former pals of Jobs questioned his honesty and "moral character".

One unnamed friend said, "(Jobs is a) deceptive individual who is not completely forthright and honest. Jobs will twist the truth and distort reality in order to achieve his goals".

Another source told agents Jobs was "a very complex individual and his moral character is suspect".

Jobs died aged 56 in October (11) after a long battle against pancreatic cancer.
