COOGAN QUITS WILD LIFESTYLE FOR HIS DAUGHTER

AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS star STEVE COOGAN has renounced his drug-taking, womanising past to protect his daughter from being teased at school.

The British comedian, who turned 40 earlier this month (OCT05), was treated for sex addiction in 1996 and has also sought help for drink and drug problems.

Coogan was divorced by his wife CAROLINE HICKMAN in July (05) on the grounds of unreasonable behaviour and is now determined to make sure his nine-year-old girl CLARE, from another relationship, can look up to him.

He says, "I've just turned 40 and it's time to clean up my act.
"My daughter means the world to me and I don't want her to get hurt. My parents are acclimatised to reading bad stuff about me, but she is only nine years old.

"I'm no Mother Theresa but I like to be a hands-on dad. I've never cared what people think about me, but I do care what my daughter thinks.
"I've taken a lot of drugs but I'm clean now.
"There were certainly no wild parties for my 40th. I need some peace and quiet in my life now."
