Susan Sarandon has donated $75,000 to the New York City public school system to support the improvement of children's table tennis programs.
The Dead Man Walking star and Big Apple native, who co-owns ping-pong club franchise SPiN, handed over the hefty cheque to bosses at the Department of Education on Wednesday (15Feb12).
According to the Wall Street Journal, the funds will be used to pay forproper equipment and coaching.
Sarandon has long believed in the benefits of table tennis and is convinced the sport relieves stress and is great for children who are unfocused and in need of exercise.
