Month Reign for the Dark Knight

Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight spends a four weeks at the top of the American box office and has become the first film since The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King way back in 2003 to hold the top spot for a month.

Grossing a further $26 million the film just edged out new Geek chic movie Pineapple Express which reunites Seth Rogan with Judd Apatow.

Last week’s number two The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor grossed a further $16 million despite poor reviews from the critics.

Thee only other new entry The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 entered the chart at number four grossing just over $10 million.

Will Ferrell comedy Step Brothers rounds off the top five.
