The Possession has taken hold of the U.S. box office for the second weekend in a row after raking in $9.5 million in ticket sales.
The film, which stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick, held off competition from Shia LaBeouf's gangster drama Lawless, which remained at two with takings of $6 million .
Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana's new movie The Words premiered in third with earnings of $5 million , while The Expendables 2 ($4.8 million) and The Bourne Legacy ($4 million) came in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
