Strokes Frontman Labelled Egomaniac And A Tyrant

11-01-2006 00:00

The Strokes Casablancas Blasted For Lateness.

STROKES frontman JULIAN CASABLANCAS has been blasted as an "egomaniac" and "tyrant" by a music journalist for showing up a staggering five hours late for an interview.

The singer, who recently turned tee-total, was touted by other band members as being easier to work with since his newfound sobriety.

But reporter JAY McINERNEY, who was set to profile the LAST NITE hitmakers for New York Magazine, was stunned by Casablancas' arrogant display of disregard.

He tells gossip site PageSix.com, "I am too old to be waiting around on some egomaniacal 27-year-old who's flexing his self-importance after studying Chapter Two of Rock star 101 by MICK JAGGER.

"And come to think of it, Jagger was only 20 minutes late when I met him for a profile in the mid-1980s.

"He (Casablancas) looks like he'll have something to say to the guys when he sees them.
