Heroes is the sci-fi drama series that has taken, what seems like the whole world, by storm. Behind this hit series is creator Tim Kring who made his name with criminal drama Crossing Jordan. Yet script writing wasnt the path that Kring was hoping to wander down when he attended film school, taking up script writing classes just to get his masters degree.Well I was at film school here in Los Angeles as USC Film School and I was interested mainly in production, camera and cinematography. In order to get your Masters degree you had to take certain classes so I took the requisite screen writing classes but I didn't necessarily fall in love with it I just did it as means of getting my degree. It wasn't until a few years out of film school I realised that the best way to enter into the film business, at the highest level, is to write a script. So I sat down and went back to the basics that I had learnt in the screen writing classes and wrote a screenplay. So when I first got my first job off the particular screen play I was able to suddenly see I could make a living I sort of fell in love with it then. Surprisingly, if you have seen any of the hit show, Kring wasnt one for reading comic books but easily surrounded himself with this genre due to the number of super hero movies that currently dominate the big screen.Well you know I was surrounded, like everyone else, by the superhero world I have two small kids and when you take them to a summer movie almost invariably it's a movie dealing with some sort of comic book theme so we are living in this world where we are surrounded by it.But as a professional screenwriter I have written probably sixty different scripts, not to mention the hundreds I've written for the shows that I have done, I always looked at writing, or part of writing, as research and immersing yourself into a world that you didn't know about I have done television shows on the world of autopsies and medical examination, heart surgeries and professional rodeo and professional football and I know very little about those things as well so I have always seen my role as a writer as doing just enough research to immerse myself into the world and them write about it.The creator also found himself being heavily influenced by film The Incredibles and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
