Patrick Fujit is being tipped to take over from Tobey Maguire in the next Spider-Man movie.
Tobey was originally only contracted for three of the movies in the franchise, and with Spider-Man 3 receiving a lukewarm reception, it has been suggested that his contract will not be renewed.
Bosses on the movie are reportedly looking to 'Almost Famous' and 'Wristcutters' actor Patrick to give the franchise a younger, fresher feel, with Michael Angarano, co-star of Jackie Chan in "The Forbidden Kingdom' also in the running for the role.
Michael also starred in 'Almost Famous', playing a younger version of Patrick's character William Miller.
'Spider-Man 4' is expected to hit cinemas in 2010 or 2011, with at least one further instalment planned for the franchise.
Kirsten Dunst's role as Mary-Jane is also rumoured to be under threat.
