Donald Trump has promised not to force out residents living near his controversial new Scottish golf course after rocker Brian May threw his support behind a protest against the venture.

The Apprentice boss finally started work on his $1 billion construction in Aberdeen last year (10) after four years of setbacks, including a campaign from locals and environmentalists.

A new protest recently erupted over the threat of a compulsory purchase of four family homes nearby, one of which belongs to 86-year-old Molly Forbes.

Queen guitarist May offered campaigners the use of the band's classic song Bohemian Rhapsody in an anti-Trump video to boost support for their protest - but the businessman has now spoken out to insist he has no plans to force out local residents.

He says, "We have consistently said we have no interest in compulsory purchase and have never applied for it.

"It remains part of the Scottish planning process but we have not, and will not, request that the council use their CPO powers to purchase houses."
