U2 frontman Bono has said he doesn't want to get involved in the illegal music downloading debate, as he feels too old and is already campaigning for enough issues.

The singer has been involved in charity campaigns and philanthropic activities for many years, setting up numerous projects for Africa, organising benefit concerts and meeting world leaders.

But the Irish rocker is reluctant to take on the issue of music downloads.

He says, "There were huge tactical errors made by the music industry. It was for younger bands to take on the the fight against illegal downloading but they were fooled into thinking it wasn't hip. I wasn't going to get involved because I'm on enough soap boxes as it is."

Bono's constant campaigning has put a strain on U2, with the singer recently admitting his bandmates fear his side projects may eventually overshadow the group and end their music career.
