Val Kilmer May Run For Governor of New Mexico

Actor Val Kilmer is "seriously considering" running for Governor of his homestate of New Mexico next year (10).

The current governor, Democrat Bill Richardson, has to stand down next year (10) after serving two terms in office - and he is touting Kilmer as a potential replacement.

The 48-year-old star recently described the idea of him running for political office as "bizarre" - but now confesses he is seriously tempted to follow in the footsteps of action star-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Kilmer tells the Associated Press, "I'm looking for ways to be contributive (sic). And if that ends up being where I can make a substantial contribution, then I'll run."

And the former Batman Forever star is convinced he'd win: "If I run, I'm going to be the next governor."

After roles in Willon, Heat and Batman Forever Kilmer has struggled with his acting career of late, despite a short lived revival in the 2000's with Wonderland and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.
