Actress Vera Farmiga has laughed off rumours she ritually burns bad movie-scripts, insisting she torches them because she has no waste disposal ather country home.

But the media has turned it into something far more volatile!

The Up in the Air star has long been rumoured to have a bonfire at her home in upstate New York every time she receives a screenplay she thinks is not up to standard.

Farmiga admits there is some truth to the story, but she only burns scripts because she doesn't want them to fall into the wrong hands.

She tells the Sydney Morning Herald, "It's not as anarchic as the mediawould like it to be. I live in upstate New York and we don't have propergarbage disposal, so we have to take our trash to the transfer station and separate the plastics from the burnables.

"My scripts are watermarked and I don't want them to end up being sold in St Mark's Place in the East Village (in New York City) with my name onit, so it becomes fertiliser and the ashes get dispersed on my garden.

But the media has turned it into something far more volatile!"
