Despite both Wall-E and Wanted opening to a big weekend gross it's Pixar's trash compacting robot that tops the US box office.The film, which grossed over $62 million, follows Wall-E who after hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, trash compacting, discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named Eve.Eve comes to realize that Wall-E. has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Knocked into second spot is Timur Bekmambetov's first Hollywood movie Wanted starring James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie which grossed over $51 million in it's opening weekend.Last week's number one Get Smart, an adaptation of the hit television show, fell two places to number three while Kung Fu Panda and The Incredible Hulk rounded off the top five.Apart from Wall-E and Wanted there were no other new releases inside the top ten.1.
