The Wayans Brothers Heading For Trial

The Wayans Brothers are heading to trial later this month (Jul11) to fight allegations the siblings plagiarised jokes written by a former assistant and published them as their own.
 
Jared Edwards, who worked for the funny family from 1995 to 2005, filed suit against Keenen Ivory Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Marlon Wayans and St. Martin's Press representatives in New York in December, 2009.
 
Edwards claims he wrote jokes about women who seek wealth and status through romance for his You Know You're a Golddigger... book in 2005.

He pitched the project to the brothers, but alleges they rejected his idea before they published their own tome four years later (May09).
 
The copyright infringement case is now heading to trial and will kick off on 12 July (11), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
 
Edwards is seeking unspecified damages.
