William Shatner's Trek plea

2 months ago 22nd Sep 13:30

William Shatner has denied he was offered a cameo in the new 'Star Trek' movie.

Director J.J. Abrams recently said that he had devised a way to bring the actor back to the franchise as Captain James T. Kirk, but axed the flashback scene because "it didn't quite feel right".

However, William has now posted a video onto YouTube in which he says he was never told about the possible role.

He said: "Nobody ever came to me and said, 'We have a cameo.'

"The truth is, I wouldn't have wanted to do a cameo because you were having trouble fitting it in."

However, despite the snub, William insists he isn't bitter about the decision.

He added: "Nobody ever asked me and I'm just sorry that I'm not in your wonderful movie. I would've loved to have been in it. If you make another one, maybe you could think of ways of bringing Captain Kirk back to life."
