High School Musical Star Zac Efron is confident he's made it as an actor, because a club devoted to hating him has sprung up at his cousin's school.
The Hairspray star admits he finds it "depressing" strangers can't be happy for his success, but understands a negative reaction goes with the territory.
He says, "I know, for instance, at my cousin's school, there's a club called the I Hate Zach Efron Club.
"And I laughed hysterically when I heard that. I laughed because if there are people out there devoted enough to make a club that hates me, I've gotta be doing something right."
The actor made his name in the the Disney Channel Origiional Movie High School Musical as Troy Bolton.
He had a starring role in this summer's surprise hit Hairspray and he is set to appear in the re-make of footloose in the role of Ren McCormick, originally played by Kevin Bacon.
The teenager's star has risen quickly in America and he was featured on the front cover of the August issue of Rolling Stone.
