Cynthia Nixon's wife Christine Marinoni has landed a job with New York's new Mayor Bill De Blasio.

Nixon has been an ardent supporter of the politician since 2001 and now her wife will serve as a special adviser for community partnerships in the Department of Education.

Marinoni, who has worked as a community organiser for several years, will be responsible for "developing a plan on how we engage community partners - including businesses, nonprofits and community-based organizations - on our major education initiatives", a City Hall spokeswoman told the New York Daily News.
