With both women being named the bookies' favourites to take over from Jeremy Clarkson on the BBC Two show, the 36-year-old model has slammed those who sent death threats to 'The Great British Bake Off' presenter on Twitter earlier this month, which forced her to quit the social media website.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Jodie said: "I think [the way Sue was treated] was horrific, and I'm glad that [James May] stood up for her. I think it was just so wrong."

At the time, Sue said that some of the threats she had received included one who "suggested they'd like to see [her] burn to death", while her timeline was also "full of blokes wishing [her] dead".

James May then stepped in and condemned the people sending her abuse.

Jeremy's former co-presenter on the BBC Two car show said: "If you're one of the people sending death threats to @sueperkins could you please do the world a much bigger favour by killing yourself".

Jeremy was dropped by the BBC in March after a "fracas" during which he punched 'Top Gear' producer Oisin Tymon.
