The couple, who hosted an intimate wedding in the Bahamas last weekend with just 24 guests, decided to legally tie the knot during a civil ceremony at their home in LA on February 3 because his 80-year-old mother, Betty Sue Palmer, was unable to travel to his private island, Little Hall's Pond Cay, due to an illness she has had for several years.

A source said: "She is too frail to travel, so he and Amber got married in LA for her. Johnny convinced Amber to have a small ceremony at their LA home."

The 'Mortdecai' star, 51, who has 15-year-old daughter Lily-Rose and 12-year-old son Jack with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Paradis, is thrilled to no longer be a bachelor.

The insider added to InTouch magazine: "He loves the feeling of being married and having a wife. He adores Amber and is excited to be with her forever."

Johnny split from French actress Vanessa in 2012 after 14 years together and was previously married to Lori Anne Allison for two years until 1985.
