Mel B's husband has put his back out.

The 39-year-old star rushed Stephen Belafonte to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles this morning (20.01.15) because he was in severe pain, but the film producer is now doing well.

Shortly after being hospitalised, he wrote on Twitter: "Thanks for the well wishes but I'm ok just put my back out! I didn't eat an apple today!! #anappleadaykeepsthedoctoraway (sic)"

A source told gossip website TMZ.com that Stephen decided to seek treatment because he was in a lot of pain and Mel stayed by his side his hospital.

The former Spice Girls star was forced to defend Stephen last month after she was hospitalised for a mystery illness in London.

The singer - who sparked concern when she appeared on the 'X Factor' with scratches and bruises on her body after being released from a treatment centre, amid rumours her marriage was on the rocks - broke her silence after reuniting with her husband in Los Angeles shortly before Christmas and insisted he "never would lay a hand" on her.

A source previously claimed the British star, who has three-year-old daughter Madison with Stephen, as well as daughter Phoenix Chi, 15, and Angel, seven, from other relationships, was preparing to file for divorce after a string of arguments, saying: "At the moment she is discussing divorce.

"She knows this isn't the easiest option. It's going to be tough. But she knows her marriage is over."
