Sarah Jessica Parker has cut $2.05 million off the asking price for her New York mansion.

The 'Sex and the City' star has been forced to drop the price of the 6,800-square-foot townhouse in Greenwich Village to $19.95 million after it failed to sell for $22 million, reports the New York Daily News,

The historic property - which is listed on website Zillow - was purchased by the 49-year-old actress and her husband Matthew Broderick in 2011 and has failed to find a buyer since they first listed it for $25 million in 2012.

The brick house boasts a doorman, tiered landscaped garden, five-bedrooms, eight-bathrooms, a master floor with a private terrace and a hand-carved stone ovular bathtub, seven fireplaces, lots of built-in bookcases, huge closets and is described by retail estate agents Douglas Elliman as "the architectural and historical embodiment of pristine New York luxury living."

The couple - who have James, 12, and five-year-old twins, Marion and Tabitha - spent a lot of time and money renovating the property, but according to Variety.com they never actually occupied the house, which was originally built in 1846, and are rumored to have purchased it for investment reasons.

The famous family are still thought to be living in a more modest townhouse in Manhattan's West Village, which they bought in 2000 for $2.995 million.

They also own two ocean-front homes in the plush area of Amagansett in the Hamptons on the South Shore of Long Island.
