Scarlett Johansson thinks breastfeeding is the "best way to get back in shape" after giving birth.

The 30-year-old actress gave birth to her first child, Rose Dorothy, with her husband Romain Dauriac in September and she has relished the responsibilities that come with having a baby to look after, and admits she "loves" everything about taking care of her daughter - including changing her nappy.

Speaking about breastfeeding, she said: "It's the best way to get back in shape.

"[I do] the whole bit. I'm nursing and I love it."

But the 'Captain America' star also admitted she is still finding motherhood "exhausting", despite enjoying spending time with her little one and feeling "overwhelmed" by all the love she has to give to her.

While being interviewed by Barbara Walters for her annual TV special, 'The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2014', Scarlett added: "It's wonderful. It's very, very magical -- and exhausting.

"The love is just unbelievable. It's very overwhelming."

Scarlett recently admitted she was learning to really appreciate sleeping all the way through the night since having a baby.

She said: "It's exhausting in the most wonderful way. I never thought how much sleeping through the night would mean to me.

"I still lack experience. Right now I'm just trying to manage. You have to first, how should I put it, learn the ropes."
