The 49-year-old actress admits she was stunned when she won a People's Choice award and a Screen Actors Guild award for her role in 'How To Get Away With Murder' last month and had even perfected her fake smile for when she lost out on the accolade.

Speaking on the 'Ellen DeGeneres Show' last night (01.02.15), she said: "I was prepared to lose. I had my loser face on. I was loosening up the muscles - that loser smile that everyone has."

However, the brunette beauty - who plays Professor Annalise Keating in the US TV show - had also taken taken extra precautions in case she did win and had asked her "beautiful husband" Julius Tennon to buy her a can of Crisco - a brand of oil - to rub on her bunion and prevent her from stumbling on stage.

She explained: "The next thought I had when they announced my name was, 'OK, this is it. I'm going to fall flat on my face because of my bunion.' I got a bunion on my right foot. So before the awards I said, 'Just in case that happens,' I told my husband to go to the store and get a can of Crisco."

She added: "I use it on my feet, as a lubricant on my feet. I just go in there and put it all over my bunion and my toes and the bottom of my feet. First of all, it gets rid of the ash ... it's dry skin. So the Crisco worked very well. I recommend it."
