Wilko Johnson is making "excellent progress" following an operation to remove a pancreatic tumour.
The former Dr. Feelgood guitarist was given just 10 months to live by doctors when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2013.
But in April he was admitted for radical surgery to remove the "football-sized" tumour which had spread to his spleen and stomach after a fan, who works in the medical field, contacted him to offer the treatment which went well.
Wilko, 66, has now been released from Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, England, and is now recuperating at his home.
A statement posted on the Dr. Feelgood Facebook page reads: "We're sure you will be as delighted as we are that after making excellent progress at Addenbrooke's over the last few weeks, Wilko is now convalescing back at his home. Naturally after such an extensive procedure, Wilko is extremely tired, and it will take him some time to recuperate, so he asks that you respect his privacy, but we had to share this incredibly positive news.
"On behalf of Wilko and his family, another huge thank you for your magnificent support over recent months - it really means a great deal to Wilko - and please join us in thanking the staff at Addenbrooke's for everything they have achieved in some extremely difficult circumstances.
After receiving his initial diagnosis, Wilko went on a farewell tour of the UK and also recorded the album 'Going Back Home' with The Who singer Roger Daltrey - who wants to head back into the studio with him to make a new LP when he's well again.
The 'Sneaking Suspicion' hitmaker had to cancel 14 concerts, including a slot at the Glastonbury Festival, to have the operation and to recover from it.
