According to new research from the nation's #1 Mexican brand, Old El Paso™, 54% of Brits are inspired by dishes from around the globe when creating culinary delights at home, with a third of 25-34 year olds turning to social media for their meal time inspiration.

With eyecatching dishes on Instagram or blogs attracting our attention, over a third of this age group believe social media has helped them adopt a global dish in the last year. Last year alone saw a 71% increase in the number of Mexican eateries opening in the UK, making Mexican food the fastest growing restaurant trend.

Future Thinking research shows that this is translating to UK homes with Mexican food being UK's favourite flavour among families. Despite its growing popularity, the research shows nearly 60% of us lack confidence when cooking Mexican dishes at home.

Old El Paso's Brand Ambassador, Kimberly Wyatt, says "I love experimenting with new flavours and often try to recreate local dishes I see from around the globe. I love creating Mexican dishes as the food is so social, making it the perfect meal for nights in with friends. Having the confidence to make certain dishes definitely makes a difference to me and the Old El Paso Restaurante range is the perfect solution for creating locally inspired dishes with ease."

John Whittaker from Future Thinking said "From our findings we have seen that the enormous trend for Mexican food is only going to grow. It's great to see truly local flavours and quality ingredients from the different regions of Mexico being introduced to the UK market."

Old El Paso's Restaurante range helps build people's confidence in exploring new flavours and locally-inspired Mexican dishes. The easy to prepare dishes, take inspiration from four regions of Mexico; Baja Fish from Ensenada in Baja California, Chicken Tinga from Puebla, Steak Carne Asada from the northern states of Mexico and Pork El Pastor from central Mexico.

The four flavours are widely available at all major supermarkets (Asda, Sainsbury's Waitrose, Tesco and Morrisons) with an RRP of £3.79.
