Healthy Winter Warmers: New York Soup Co Skinny Soups

We’re all trying to get healthy in the New Year but this cold weather makes it hard to stick to our eating plans.

All we want to do is get some good old fashioned comfort food and snuggle up on the sofa with it.

The new Skinny Soups from the New York Soup Co have the same warming effect of traditional winter warmers but without the guilt afterwards!

These soups have big flavour but with less than 130 calories per serving, definitely worth swapping your pasta for!

There are 3 delicious flavours to suit all tastes, from the Chicken Minestrone to the New England Butternut Squash and the Route 66 Red Pepper – there is something for everyone.

Here’s all you need to know about these tasty new soups –

New England Butternut Squash

123 cals per serving

This skinny spectacular takes butternut squash back to its roots. It’s cooked slowly to give it a great, nutty base to the soup. We’ve naturally thickened it with potato and haricot beans and added a tiny splash of cream to make it delicious but still just 123 calories per serving!

Did you know:

Butternut Squash is one of the three ‘sister’ crops planted by native Americans and is known to have been cultivated by the Incas in the 15th century.

Route 66 Red Pepper

110 cals per serving

This yummy soup was inspired by a road trip along the infamous Route 66. Our hungry chefs stopped at a roadhouse café for a bite to eat and found Californian Pepper soup on the menu, and here it is, for less than 110 cals!

Did you know:

California leads the nation in terms of bell pepper production and, unknown to many, sweet peppers are actually classified as fruit!

Chunky Chicken Minestrone

90 cals per serving

Literally translated as ‘Big Soup’, you'll find classic minestrone soup at any Italian-inspired New York pitstop. But Skinny Soup's Chunky Chicken Minestrone is a break from the norm. This hearty, health-restoring broth is packed with a unique combination of chunky vegetables, pasta, cannellini beans plus whole pieces of chicken that transform it from snack to substantial meal. Big on soup…small on calories at just 90 per serving!

Did you know:

The first Italian to reside in New York city was Pietro Cesare Alberit, a venetian seaman who, in 1635, settled in what was to become New York City.
