MasterChef Voted Favourite Cooking Show of All-Time

MasterChef Voted Favourite Cooking Show of All-Time

If you’re a big foodie then there’s no doubt that you’ll be a fan of cooking shows such as MasterChef, The Great British Bake Off and Nigella Bites.

The nation has now voted and MasterChef has come up top when it comes to favourite all-time cooking shows.

It beat the likes of The Great British Bake Off, River Cottage, Great British Menu and Nigella Bites, which all came within the top ten.

Unfortunately, our love of cookery shows hasn’t inspired us to get messy in the kitchen.

Brits admitted that although they watch the shows and take down recipes, they’re more likely to buy them in the form of ready meals from the supermarket instead of making them for themselves.

Celebrity chef Lisa Faulkner, who won Celebrity MasterChef in 2010, said, “I’m not surprised MasterChef has been voted as the favourite cookery programme of all time.

“That said, it’s a shame our fascination for watching our favourite foodies hasn’t had an effect on what we’re cooking in our own kitchens.

“For me, the great thing about cookery programmes is they inspire me to try new dishes and show that making a good quality meal doesn’t have to take hours.”

When it came to our favourite TV Chef, Jamie Oliver left other competition in the dust. After he appeared on the Naked Chef back in 1999 we’ve not been able to get enough of him.

Gordon Ramsey and Delia Smith followed in second place with Nigella Lawson rounding off the top five.

When we want to take inspiration and find recipes, we’re just as likely to hit the TV as well as the books for ideas.

Guy North, Marketing Communications Director at Freeview who conducted the research, said, “It’s really interesting to see that TV is now as influential as recipe books.

“With the adoption of digital technologies like the PVR, people can record and store their favourite series so they never miss an episode - creating their own personalised, digital recipe library.”
