Angry Birds 2 is scheduled to be unveiled in full at an event in San Francisco, with Rovio dishing out invites to a lucky few people who will attend on July 28.

The game promises to be "bigger, badder and birdier" than those that have come before it, but little else is known about the follow-up to the 2009 original.

A total of 14 different spinoffs in the six years that followed Angry Birds have been released, as well as the opening of an Angry Birds Activity Park in Lightwater Valley.

Characters from the series also recently made an appearance in Sega's endless runner title Sonic Dash.
