The video game publisher has set its Creation Club live on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 meaning there is now a two-tier mod system in operation, the new paid format as well as the old free system.

Gamers using Steam will need to use credits and Bethesda is giving 100 of its digital currency away for free.

Among the offerings on the first 'Fallout 4' mod content are Hellfire Power Armour, a homemade shotgun, a modular military backpack and Power Horse Amour.

Bethesda tweeted: "Creation Club launches for #Fallout4 first. We'll follow up with news on #SkyrimSpecialEdition in the coming weeks. (sic)"

But the publisher admitted it is "easier" to use Creation Club than try to explain how it works.

They added on Twitter: "It's easier to explain Creation Club by trying it yourself. All #Fallout4 players will get 100 Credits to start. (sic)"

Other update features include a Message of the Day and Bethesda have fixed a number of bugs.

Those who enjoy playing 'Fallout 4' might also like to know the title is to get the board game treatment from Fantasy Flight Games, which is expected to hit shelves next year.

They recently confirmed the new extension of the video game franchise - following on from a tabletop game - will be "a post-nuclear board game for 1-4 players".

Players will choose one of five characters - which includes a ghoul, super mutant and vault dweller - and each will have their own sets of characteristics and abilities to keep things tactically interesting.
