The open world action-adventure game was expected to be released on November 7 this year, following previous set backs from 2016, but now it's been revealed the video game has been pushed back once more.

Microsoft Studios Publishing general manager Shannon Loftis made the announcement to fans on Twitter when she wrote: "Crackdown 3:campaign, coop, & Wrecking Zone is moving to spring 18 so we can make sure we deliver all the awesome that Crackdown fans want. (sic)"

Shannon insisted the delay was needed so Microsoft can make the game as great as possible.

In an interview with Polygon, she said: "'Crackdown 3' is a hugely ambitious game and we want to ensure we deliver the right experiences all the way through every part of the game, whether that's campaign, co-op multiplayer or our competitive multiplayer mode, Wrecking Zone.

"Getting the balance right between the three modes is important, and we are going to take the extra development time to ensure that.

"I'm proud of the progress and dedication the Crackdown 3 team has shown and their deep passion and love for this IP. We think it deserves the time we're giving it."

The game comes seven years after the 2010 release of Xbox 360 video game 'Crackdown 2' and will focus on a Microsoft Azure-powered mass scale destruction that enables everything in the game to be destroyed.
