The zombie game - made for Xbox One, PC and PS4 - has been taken down from the listing page further adding to speculation that it has been axed entirely.

A member on the NeoGAF forum spotted that it had been dropped on Monday (30.05.16) and the game title now simply reads "Unknown App 268150".

It's not a good sign for the troubled second game in the franchise as it was originally expected to be released in Spring 2015 and had been pushed back for an early 2016 release.

And that's not all, the developer Yager was dropped by the game's publisher Deep Silver.

In a statement released at the time, they said: "With 'Dead Island 2', Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that 'Dead Island' fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner Yager."

The game is now being developed by Little Big Planet 3 and the developers are Sumo Digital.

"Conflicting visions" are reportedly what lead to the split from Deep Silver.
