Batman... Not Always on the Ball

Looking good Batman: Arkham City

With the arrival of Arkham City slowly creeping up on us, it seems people are about to go bat crazy all over again, for what looks like another great game. However, in the past, the Batman franchise hasn’t had as much success as it would like on the computer games side of things, here are some examples of forgotten failings from Batman. Read More …

Five Great Gaming Easter Eggs

Psycho Mantis reads your mind

Easter Eggs are the hilarious moments in games that everyone wants more of, the tucked away secret rooms or bonus upgrades that are sometimes near impossible to reach. Sometimes an accidental glitch, but more often than not a purposeful hidden gem left by the bored developer; the easter egg is always an absolute pleasure to find and a lovely piece of what makes gaming such a joy. This list is incredibly difficult to compile, mainly because of the vast amount of possible entries; so please don’t crucify me if I’ve missed one of your favourites! I haven’t even been able to consider the more recent titles, so unfortunately things like Marcus Fenix finding a toaster in Gears of War 2, and the crazy fish riding man in Borderlands haven’t made the list (though you should check them out, they are absolutely hilarious). The End: Disappointing Ends to Games

prince of persia Great game bad ending

I’m very much a story driven guy, I like my game stories to pick me up and take me on an adventure that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to do in real life. Games plots are getting increasingly better as time goes on and computer games are even putting a new idea on what story telling can be. All you have to do is look at Heavy Rain; it took the basic choose your own adventure idea, and brought it into the modern digital world. Perhaps one of the most important aspects of a games story is the closure, you wouldn’t expect a movie to end poorly, so why do so many games get away with their awkward endings? (This is not a judgement on the quality of game.) Read More …
