The popular football management game - in which players take control of their favourite club and try to cover themselves in glory by winning silverware aplenty - was released last month, but now has a demo available to play on Steam.

Fans who are unsure whether to splash out on the new title might like to download the tester on Steam.

The free demo enables gamers to get to grips with the management simulator by playing six months of virtual time with their chosen team.

As well as for the full game, a demo is also available for 'Football Manager Touch 2017', which is a streamlined version of the game for PC and certain tablets.

The official site states: "Football Manager 2017 gives you complete management control whilst Touch is a thorough, but fasted-paced experience.

"Your demo career lasts for 6 in-game months and if you later decide to upgrade and purchase Football Manager 2017 or Touch your progress can be carried forward into the full game - and you won't have to start from scratch!"

The latest installment of the game made headlines recently after it was revealed makers Sports Interactive had included a Brexit format which changes the way European transfer are made based on the European Referendum result.

'Football Manager' boss Miles Jacobson recently said: "When the referendum result came it was a shock - not because pollsters got it wrong. That's not unusual.

"But this time the bookmakers got it wrong - and I'm yet to meet a poor bookie.

"What shocked me even more was the 'What do we do now?' coming from the government. The Brexiters didn't have a plan - it wasn't their job apparently.

"Yet I'd spent the months leading up to the vote researching what could happen either way."
